Frequently Asked Questions from Our Customers

At thinqINK Computer Supplies, we focus on providing quality imaging supplies at great prices. Whether you need a cartridge for your home or business, we can help you save money without sacrificing print quality. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get from our customers.

I've tried refill kits or refill services before and they didn't work. What has changed?

Every company has different methods for remanufacturing their cartridges. However there are many pitfalls and shortcuts that reduce overall quality. thinqINK Computer Supplies does it right, resulting in a high-quality product for our customers, with an extremely low rate of defects or problems.

What are the environmental benefits to recycling cartridges?

Most toner and ink cartridges are made of non-biodegradable plastics that are estimated to take more than 1,000 years to begin decomposing in a landfill. By reusing these cartridges, we divert up to four pounds of plastic per cartridge from the landfill. Over 85% of used cartridges are currently thrown away, so we hope that even if you are not interested in using our refill services, you could still drop off your cartridges with us for recycling.

Will using a recycled cartridge void my warranty?

Although printer manufacturers would like you to believe this, the Canada Competition Act (Section 77) protects your rights as a consumer to shop around for supplies for your printers.

How many times can we refill an empty inkjet cartridge?

There are many variables involved in answering this question. It depends on the cartridge type, the refill method used and the care given to the cartridge by the consumer. For example, the worst thing you can do to a multi-color inkjet cartridge is to continue to print after one color has run out. If you do, the nozzle plate for the empty color will overheat and warp, ruining the cartridge for further refilling. Generally speaking, we expect between 5 and 10 refills for most cartridges.

Will a remanufactured cartridge damage my printer?

A cartridge that has been properly remanufactured will not cause damage to your equipment. The worst thing that can happen is for ink to leak into your printer. Even though it is messy and inconvenient, it will not damage your printer. That said, ink cartridges will leak if they are incorrectly refilled so it is important to use a company with a focus on quality such as thinqINK Computer Supplies to refill your supplies.

How should I care for and store my ink cartridge when not in use?

Place in a sealed zip-lock bag with a moist towel (paper towel dampened with water). Do not cover print head with moist towel as this can cause mixing of the colors. Try not running your cartridge completely dry - this is not good for your printer or the cartridge. thinqINK Computer Supplies has processes and equipment to restore cartridges that have dried out, however it does make it harder, and we are not able to recover every cartridge that has dried out.

Will I get the same number of printed pages from a remanufactured cartridge?

We guarantee you will get at least the same number of printed pages from our remanufactured products as you will get from a new cartridge - most cartridges are indeed refilled with an average of 10-15% more ink or toner.

How long does it take to get a cartridge refilled or remanufactured?

For most cartridges, we have "pre-filled" cartridges ready to go, so that you are not waiting for us to do our work. Give us your cartridge, and we give you another one off the shelf that has already been refilled and tested for you. If we do not have your particular model in stock, we will get it ready for you in two to four business days.

Give us a call if you have any questions about how to maintain your printer and other accessories you purchase from us.
